This week something different
Since we didn't post a theme to get us all thinking. Lets just do a timed peice. How about an hour? Reflect on your week or where ever you're at (just like at the beginning of a yoga class) and let it pour out onto the paper. Alternatively, do whatever you feel like on one peice of paper. We're very open here in the Drawing Club. See you again Wednesday.

Absent
By Leslie WiegandMy concept here was to show the tree is absent from the paper, meaning we use paper and wood willy-nilly and forget where it comes from. I applied the wallpaper, drew the tree, cut it out and peeled the paper back before it got too dried on. For the cameo I let the paper dry completely, cut and peeled off only the top layer then painted and drew the face, gold trim was last.

ABsent
Absent turned out to be a difficult theme for me. There is however alot absent in this peice, mainly everything that was there to start with. Then there is the horse that isn't really there, the net that caught it is there but the horse somehow got away. Just like an octopus. Apparently, they can shrink themselves to get in and out of fishing nets. (Leslie told me that.)GJJ

Embrace what you've got :)
By Leslie WiegandI had piece of wood I used as a palette, with some black marks on it, and low & behold... a long nosed rascal emerged, and I embraced it! Human foot, lashes, hairy butt and all. The leaves are golden, like money... I thought of what my dad had once (or twice) said to me 'Do what you love and the money will follow'. Well my rascal loves mice and tree hugging, and I am embracing who I am, and what I do, and all that I love.

Embraced
This is something I've had a hard time finishing. It is a wedding present for my friends Marlowe and Chad. They were married in September. Marlowe has, for years, wanted me to paint her something with sunflowers. Well, they're in there. Other than that "embrace" seemed like a good theme to incorporate for reworking this painting into something I'm more inclined to actually give them.

Contortions
by Leslie WiegandOctopi are incredible contortionists, magical in fact. Mysterious too. In the ocean just at the end of my street, the pacific giants are living their magical mystery lives and I want to bring your attention to them... especially since our untreated shit is being dumped right into their home every day! Makes me want to #2 in my yard with the cat, or better yet on the parliament steps.

Next: Contortions
Thanks for the theme Wiggins. I think we'll need until next Wednesday for this one.
Let's see your most flamboyant and flexible moves on January 13, 2010. Please don't leave me lonely.

The Quest: A Mushroom Of A Labyrinth, Ye Gads.

Ok So who said questing was easy? I may have thought that at first but I was wrong. Questing is tough and usually at some point you're going to hit a brick, or in this case a rock wall. But, once you get past that and focus your intent, concentrate, move through the labyrinth - Heck, do it a few times maybe like 5 or 6 trust me it'll get you somewhere. You'll be able to move back out into the world a new person full of, I don't know, motivation or inspiration or something then Bango! you'll be free and zooming around surrounded by pretty lights and whatever else your imagination can conjure up.
