"What's wrong Bear?"
"I don't know Bear, I feel funny, like I may have done something wrong, like maybe I hurt someone, or maybe it was a bad dream..."

Decomposition

By Leslie Wiegand
I decomposed, from a photograph, the elements of these Derby Girls. Decomposition takes lots of time and energy!

Tickled Pink

Hello Loverly Ladies...

I have been astounded as of late by the many many (many) shades of PINK available in this life. And as such, I am sending out an invite for you all to create under the theme: Tickled Pink. I look forward to seeing what manifests from your limitless-ness...

Big Fish Little Fish

12" x 12"
acrylic

"big fish little fish swimming in the water..." PJ Harvey

A fish is content to be just a fish.
Its story never differing much, from moment to moment.
I wish sometimes to be a fish.
Content to be just
sculling in the sea.

This piece was inspired by my friend Karen who asked me to paint her energy onto a canvas. This is what came out. Karen is turquoise and indigo and bright orange-red and to know her is to feel like a Big fish swimming in contented waters.

New Theme

So I am a bit Tardy here... I will post a couple of things tomorrow to make up for it.
For now, a new theme:

Narrative

I am thinking a discussion between two people, places or things, a dialogue, a relationship, a bond... maybe between you and the piece or a story in your head.

Ps, I know what you're talking bout :) and Geneva I see a naked Goliath storming the campground of love!

strange little girl

24" x 18"
acrylic

theme: Decomposition: This piece may have been influenced by a little trip to Betsey Johnson this afternoon. This aforementioned journey may very well also have been the influence behind the insipid anger at my shortcomings with finances. (And the fact that shortcomings do not produce archival rose-print cotton-spandex corsets to those afflicted. Hmmph). Which got me pondering my decaying, angry heart and the path upon which it is set to stop it’s rhythmic ticking, one day. But, not TOday and so TOday i painted this decaying bird-zombie Woman with whom i feel a very lovely and terrifying affiliation, in that flesh-rotting art-making delightful sort of way. You know?

Neurotic Neurons

By Leslie Wiegand
I am a little in overdrive, overwhelmed, like I am on the right path but it suddenly turned into a freeway. I think I need a nap, but no rest for the wicked. Got to head down town and pay some gratitude.

Theme: Decomposition

1. the act or process of decomposing.
2. the state of being decomposed; decay.

Composition is important to works of art. Is decomposition any different?
There is a chance this theme could just fall apart, as the definition itself implies.

We'll find out next week.

Bright Gray Matter

Whoa. Brain activity.
Left brain. Right brain. Reptile brain. Exploding brain.
Welcome to my psychedelic brain activity.

Blue Grass

By Leslie Wiegand
Oh I didn't have as much success with this one. However, it was very satisfying to just run my blue filled brush along in lines, and getting sketchy with the pen was fun too.
We've got wallpaper, gold leaf, acrylic paint, pen and pencil crayon in this one.

First Week Of February 2010

I've been to Pender Island twice this week. I want to say alot more but I'll just let this peice speak for itself. Except to mention that rock concert light shows, with smoke machines and the whole nine yards, really brighten up my gray matter. gjj

PS - Christyn, thanks for the next theme. I'm so happy you're here.

May I Suggest A Thematical

Hey fellow draw-ers.

i was thinkin' that neurons are pretty cool. How would y'all like to have 'brain activity' as a theme?

see you in a week. Or less.

There was but
a brilliant moment
of sunbeam
and it filled me with such ecstasy
that i just nearly burned my lids
staring through
gilded eyes
closed.

This week something different

Since we didn't post a theme to get us all thinking. Lets just do a timed peice. How about an hour? Reflect on your week or where ever you're at (just like at the beginning of a yoga class) and let it pour out onto the paper. Alternatively, do whatever you feel like on one peice of paper. We're very open here in the Drawing Club. See you again Wednesday.
